Secure estates, both office and residential, have become his speciality and his clients have included estates such as La Lucia Ridge Office Estate, Zimbali Office Park and Residential Estate, Thesen Islands, Gowrie Estate in the Natal Midlands, Helderberg and De Zalze in the Western Cape, Villa Valriche in Mauritius and many more.

Glenn Allen, technical director for Enforce Security, a division of Excellerate Services, is responsible for security technologies and projects. In 2007, Glenn merged his business IMSol (Integrated Management Solutions) with Enforce. Glenn has been involved in many large scale projects and implementations, which include some of the country’s premier estates, all of which he is still actively involved with for upgrades and improvements.

Roy Alves, country manager for Axis Communications, is responsible for all operations in the southern African region. Roy assumed this role in 2006 when Axis acquired SCS Distribution, the company's former distributor, which Roy owned and managed. Roy hails from a technical environment with a tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering, various networking courses and an IBM Programming Diploma. When not touting the brilliance of the Axis products, he divides his time between his three gorgeous children, a terrifying array of extreme sports and tinkering with new-fangled gadgets.

Selvan has been involved in the electronic security industry for over 15 years. His experience in this field centres around electronic security systems design (solutions architecture) with a strong emphasis on systems integration, i.e. the integration of disparate systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder detection and fire systems into a single unified platform. Over the past three years, he has focused on business development, with particular emphasis on growing business in the African market.


John Cato

John Cato is an experienced consultant with more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry, approximately half of which have been spent in vendor organisations and the other half in user organisations. He is a lead consultant and founding director at IACT-Africa. During the past few years John has been placing a strong focus on IT Governance, Risk and Compliance, including Information Security, with an emphasis on local legislation such as the Protection of Personal Information (PoPI) Act, as well as international practices in privacy and data protection. He has also co-authored a number of PoPI Act compliance tools and has led implementation projects in this area.

With a special interest in intelligence building in big data, David has, over the past 16 years, built a series of products tailor-made for a number of industries including intelligence, law enforcement, healthcare and auto insurance. In 2012 David became the innovation and marketing director of Forensic Intelligence Data Solutions (Pty) Ltd (FIDS). He soon became CEO. In 2016 FIDS merged in a joint venture with the BDO Cyber and Forensics Lab bringing in the FIDS platform as the foundation for a number of specialised analytics and big data projects with major IT security and solutions providers. David serves as a joint executive for the BDO Cyber and Forensic Lab, overseeing the following: Cyber Forensic Services; Advanced Analytics; Digital Forensic Services and Forensic Investigations and E-Discovery.


Dr Andrew Swanson

Dr Andrew Swanson is a professional engineer with a PhD in electrical engineering. He worked in the industry for a number of years on numerous projects across Africa and Europe until he moved to the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2013. He is currently a lecturer at the university and the programme co-ordinator for Electrical Engineering. He leads the high voltage activities and research. Having worked in the industry for a number of years, he brings a well-rounded perspective to problems.

Riaan Allen

Riaan completed his National Diploma in Heavy Current Electrical Engineering in 2001. Shortly thereafter he started his career in the PLC and scada field where he was involved in many scada projects as a design engineer. After working in companies as diverse as Moeller Electric, ABB South Africa and BFBA Consultants, today he is self-employed and provides medium voltage switchgear, transformers, distribution boards, power quality installations, generators and UPSs. He is registered with ECSA as a Pr Tech Eng and has been a member of the SAIEE for 10 years.


MJ Oosthuizen

MJ Oosthuizen started his career in the network administration field, before working and living in Asia as part of his experience in the surveillance arena. MJ brings more than 16 years of experience to the surveillance distribution industry. Through his technical background, he evolved into product management, specifying and building various brands within the local industry, and implementing complete end-to-end solutions in various projects.
