Michael Lever (BA, CSMP) was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed his education at the Witwatersrand Business School. He has been involved in the security sector since 2000. In 2009, he founded Metagrated, a risk advisory and security consultancy firm that caters to a diverse clientele, from residential estates to multinational corporations, security companies, and foreign diplomatic services. Michael’s interests lie in emerging tech, big data, integration, application, and operations within the ever-evolving realm of security and its myriad challenges.

Bruce Robertson

Bruce Robertson
Exeutive Director, Centre for Security Management Studies
Bruce Robertson is the owner and Managing Director of a governance and management consulting business and the Executive Director of a bespoke research NGO, serving a diverse portfolio of clients (which include gated residential, office parks and industrial estates) in the EMEA region. He is an Honorary Professor with UNISA's Department of Criminology and Security Science, leading a project to revitalise their security risk management curriculum.
Bruce was previously employed in the corporate security field with a regional (southern Africa) argic-industrial and property development company, following service within a police crime intelligence milieu. He holds an Honours Degree in Social Science (Political Science - Strategic Studies specialisation) from the University of Natal. He maintains an active continuing professional development programme, with recent courses undertaken through the University of Cape Town's Faculty of Law (Data Protection and Privacy), Harvard University (Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age), and the Institute of Directors, South Africa.
Bruce has a passion for standards development as an aspect of his approach to professionalism and has served for almost two decades in various International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) technical committees and work groups, of which his involvement in the subject areas of "Risk Management", "Continuity and Organisational Resilience", and "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems", are relevant to his Conference presentation.
Bruce is a past Chairman of the South African Institute of Security (SAIS) and a National Council member of the Security Association of South Africa (SASA). He is currently a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA), the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) and SASA.

Quintin van den Berg joined Bosch Building Technologies in 2016 and is currently Building Technologies, Country Business Director Southern Africa, responsible for sub-Saharan Africa. His responsibilities include sales and business strategy, competitive positioning, defining and implementing sales and marketing strategies related to the Bosch video systems, intrusion alarm systems, and access control and management software portfolios. Quintin gained a wealth of experience in the security industry having worked with a number of well-known international brands over the past 20 years in roles varying from key account management, specialised sales channel management and product management.
